A quick look at how we protect your experience, the beach, and our equipment.
The high tide line is the highest point the ocean typically reaches on the sand.
How to spot the high tide line:
- A line of shells or seaweed
- A change in sand color or texture (soft sand vs. hard sand)
The hard sand is damp, compact, and more stable as this is where the waves reach. Your chairs will be set up on soft sand. Soft sand is right behind the high tide line and it is dry, loose, and shifts easily.
We set up at the high tide line because the ocean moves more than you may think. Even on calm days, tides can reach chairs or blankets placed too low on the beach.
If chairs are pulled in the ocean, they can become marine debris and harm wildlife and ecosystems. If the saltwater reaches the chairs it can damage them and shorten the lifespan of the equipment and impact the quality of your experience.
Our team keeps both safety and comfort in mind for all of our guests.
